Welcome to the Chess in Schools Blog!

This will be the area where all people involved in chess in schools in Malta can meet and share news and ideas.

Following the interest being shown from various schools and teachers , the Malta Chess Federation thought time is ripe to build up on this interest and start a blog area where people can contribute on the subject of Chess in Schools in Malta.

I will invite all interested people to this blog such that they can post new news items. Please keep in mind that the success of this blog depends on the participation on each and every one of you!

  1. Excellent idea Colin. I'm glad to say that at San Anton we are starting on Wednesday. Flyers have been put up, boards and pieces ready, and hopefully we'll see the numbers come in. So far we will be meeting in the long break. Depending on the response we will then decide whether to extend it to other days. Hopefully we will have the San Anton Chess open as we used to have until a few years ago.

  2. That's great Ian!
Regarding the San Anton Chess Open, we should see how to fit this in the current calendar where we hold a tournament (one of which the junior championship) every 3 months. Next tournament is in December. Ray Azzopardi is the tournament director of these events, and will post an article when the details are available.
